Osteria Al Bacareto

The name Bacareto comes from Bacaro, a traditionalwine from Puglia, and is in honour of the grandparents on the owner’s father’s side who were from Brindisi. In 1902 they opened a small inn called Al Bacareto near the site of the present restaurant.

Since 1971 it has been managed passionately and competently by Emilio De Giulio and Anna Trevisan, along with their children Adriano and Federico. This restaurant still serves local Venetian cuisine, keeping the typical tavern atmosphere.

Salt cod, marinated sardines ‘in saor’, bigoli in sauce, Venetian-style liver, cuttlefish with polenta, white wine and appetizers are always to be found, besides a wide assortment of fish.

The tavern is located in San Samuele between Santo Stefano and Palazzo Grassi in a quiet, exclusive area. You can try all the various dishes at the bar counter too.
