Ristorante Al Giardinetto da Severino

In the Castello district, just a few minutes from St. Mark’s Square and the Rialto Bridge, right from its beginnings in the early 1900s, Al Giardinetto restaurant has always offered its guests typical Venetian dishes.

Run for over sixty years by the Bastianello Parmesan family, it is situated in the 15th century Palazzo Zorzi and proposes typical specialities such as marinated sardines ‘in saor’, bigoli in sauce, crab, and castradina (salted smoked mutton), accompanied by an excellent selection of Italian wines.

The restaurant has a spacious internal courtyard where, in summertime, it is possible to have lunch in the shade of the vineyard covering it. Moreover this vineyard produces a particularly appreciated sweet wine – something really unique for Venice. The indoor dining room, which was once used as a private chapel, still retains the vaulted ceiling and the fireplace with its 16th century frescoes.

During the month of October, the restaurant becomes a cultural cenacle, hosting the “Amici Ruga Giuffa” National Painting Prize.
